Serious Jeepers are always looking for more clearance. Lift kits, elaborate spring overs, shackle reversals, etc., etc. have become commonplace setups on the trail.
Now there’s yet another way to get more clearance: Tube Fenders. These tubular additions will give your tires somewhere to go instead of rubbing on the stock fenders, not to mention they’ll save your rig from scuffs and scars that routinely happen on the trail. The average tube fender setup will yeild an additional 1.5 inches of clearance at the back of the tire and 1 inch at the front.
Tube fenders are available from a variety of sources, but Poison Spyder Customs puts out the best product. Poison Spyder’s fenders are constructed of .125 wall tubing and utilize all the factory mounting locations.
At around $500, tube fenders are a tad expensive, but they’re well worth the investment if you’re serious about your wheeling.
